ICASA
  • Icasa has issued a warning to electronic communications equipment dealers against bogus inspectors posing as Icasa officials in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.  The bogus officials have reportedly confiscated cellular telephones and imposed and collected fines from dealers for selling non type-approved equipment.

COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS USE POLICY (FOR EMPLOYEES AND CONSULTANTS)

PENDING PROCEEDINGS - REPRESENTATIONS DUE

DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATIONS
  • The Department of Communications (DoC) has published proposed guidelines for the rapid Deployment of Electronic Communications Facilities in respect of international submarine cables. The closing date for written representations is 11 April 2008.
  • The DoC has invited tenders for the appointment of a service provider to undertake an International Peer Benchmarking Study on the cost to communicate in South Africa. The closing date is 11 April 2008.
ICASA
  • Icasa has published the draft licence for the South African Post Office.  Written comments are due on 16 April 2008.
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AND CONSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • Most private bodies must comply with the Promotion of Access to Information Act requirement to compile an information manual by 31 December 2011.
TENDERS
  • The State Information Technology Agency has invited tenders for the supply and maintenance of support services on the Thutong Education Portal for the Department of Education. The closing date is 4 April 2008.
  • SITA has invited tenders for a Service Control Solution that is able to provide network traffic analysis, deep packet inspection, session-based classification of traffic and enforcement of policy.  The closing date is 7 April 2008.
